hello, i have a 97 f-150 it had a 4.2 v6 with auto trans. i am putting a 5.4 v8 with auto trans, that came out of a 2000 f250. i have both trucks that have all the wiring from both trucks, can you tell me what do i need to do to get all the wiring to interchange so that everything works? thanks so much for anything you can tell me.
You're definitely gonna need the PCM, and the two primary harnesses (one connects to the motor, the other to the transmission. On the V8, they're connected in a bracket on the top passenger side of the firewall, and the PCM connector is on the passenger side firewall behind the battery. The PCM itself is inside the truck opposite the connector at the firewall. Beyond that, I'm not sure how any of the other stuff in the truck will be affected....
Every piece of wiring from that 2000 model, along with the cluster and the PATS wiring in the steering column will need to be installed in the '97.
NOT and easy swap, and it will be painfully time consuming.
