Carburetor

Hey Everyone,
This is my first time restoring as vehicle, a 1979 Ford F150 351m, and it has been sitting for a few years now by the po so im taking on rebuilding the carb. I have a holley 4160 750cfm. I have been looking into rebuild kits but was wondering if it matters whether or not one kit fits all? I have only been able to find one kit but wasnt sure if the varying cfm sizes matter when buying a rebuild kit? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Dave

If it is a universal kit you should be okay, but just take the list # from the air horn, top front of the carb and any parts place should be able to match that to a kit specifically for that carb

Thats right, if your not sure if your getting the right set of numbers, just take the whole carb into the store. but if you know its a 4160 then tell them. usually they are a overnight item. congrats and have fun with your new project.

Get the list number on the choke housing tower, as you look at the carb from the front of your truck it's on the top right hand side of the tower usually.

Go to holley.com and fill out the contact info and give them your list number

They will email you within 2 days with the correct rebuild kit number

You can usually get it at autozone i know they stock it for 22.00 for my 4160 600 cfm

They also carry Berryman's Carbuerator cleaner, it's very caustic but use this to dip the carb for at least an hour to clean out the parts well it costs 20.00 for the gallon.

It will have a lot of stuff you may not need for your particular carb

Don't know if it comes with the floats you may have to order those seperatly

Also holley.com has carb adjustment videos on their site that link to you tube for help.

Holley makes it very easy there are four part numbers that fit almost every single carb they ever made, like 85% coverage. To make certain you get the right one get that number off the air horn, if you look for it you can't miss it. I stock it at my store but your local parts places might have to order it in. The berryman stuff mentioned is really good.
