rust on door

i read in another thread about the chemical that you can use to stop rust and turn into a paintable surface.
the bottom of my doors, on the inside edge, where the metal is folded, have some rust breaking through. if i scrap the rough stuff off and apply the rust stop to it, will that stop the rust from coming back? will the rust stop seep in between the two metal surfaces?
i want to stop this now before i have to buy a new door.
thanks for you help

The chemical you are looking is a paint called POR15. I've purchased a gallon and done some interesting applications on my seriously rusted Chevelle trunk as well as my F150. It does stop rust from growing where ever it can be applied. If you have cracks and jambs you're going to still have rust. If you can paint the area though, the stuff dries like rock and really does stop it, no bubble up under the coating as with normal paint.
