i am wondering what i need to do to get my tranny to handle more hp and torque its an auto assuming e4od with 278k on it i have exhaust gauges cold air and an edge quickly going to the dp f6 turbo bellowed up pipes and injectors either stage 1 or 2 not sure yet truck runs and shifts great just trying to figure out what all i need to do to be able to run that 400hp+ safely im assuming with those mods i will be in that neighborhood ill be honest im a diesel nut but always with the cummins this is my first psd thanks sorry for all the questions
Welcome to FTE. Tranny temp gauge and an auxiliary or replacement cooler should be your first step. Next up would be to install a shift kit from transgo or sonnax to firm up your shifts.
Also, if you have a 99 - 03 7.3 super duty then you have a 4R100 tranny not the E4OD. And don't feel bad about the questions. It's always better to learn from others mistakes when it comes to adding power.
You either need 25 posts or become a supporter to get a signature.
The shift kit firms up your shifts. Firmer shifts means less slippage so the tranny lasts longer. If you want a bullet proof transmission, you can visit Brian's Truck Shop (BTS) in Arkansas. He will build your tranny and then dare you to try and break it.
sweet i love dares i forgot to mention i would be upgrading the fuel system either fass or airdog should i get a fuel pressure gauge and upgrade to a quad pod

Monitoring fuel pressure is nice but not necessary. EGT, Boost and Tranny temp are the 3 big ones.
yea why not you only live once i have been looking at his website i think that is the tranny for me im also thinking the flexplate and torque converter as well go all out
When are you planning on changing chips and injectors? You'll need custom tunes when you swap injectors. If you decide you want something closer, Tony Wildman at TDP is in Fort Worth, (soon to be Justin) Texas. He's got some good tunes and can offer live tuning a little closer to home.
Either Tony of DP will run circles around your Edge. They will even adjust their tunes if you tell them you have a BTS since they know the tranny can handle the power.
im going to do the tranny and turbo first followed by the injectors then the new chip hopefully by the end of next year that would be nice as i go through ft worth quit abit on my way down to harper tx to buy exotics and am always needing an excuse to stop and do something other than go to cabelas how long does it take brian to put in a tranny if i were to take a few days off to go and drop off my pickup
ive been researching and it looks like the airdog is just a adder so i am really leaning towards the fass it says 50psi i am thinking i am going to do the quad with fuel just to keep tabs should i do a fuel bowl delete upgrading to the fass since it has a filter and water sep on it
