I just wanted to say what a great place FTE is. I get the feedback I need and being the owner of my first deisel (99 F250 7.3 Superduty) you guys have helped me out alot getting this thing back and running on the road after I bought it from a younger fellow. I was a bit sceptical at first but being a ford guy all my life I thought I would give it a try, and now Im very happy with the upgrades and the way she runs. Even when its cold she hasnt failed me.
We had to replace both our vehicles this summer when we got nailed by a hail storm including replacing most of the of the house ( My 2000 F-150 V6 and her 2002 Explorer V6 ). we could of bought hers back for $1900. But it had that O/D flashing problem and consumer reports gave it a bad rap. I personly liked it but she said lets buy something bigger. I thought sweet Excursion baby! Not the case a 1995 Suburban =(. BUT I gave it the benifit of the doubt being it my 2nd chevy ever. Dead the second day we owned it. New Cap, rotor, and a coil it ran again. Month later exhaust fell off. Next month new fuel pump and filter. This month new battery new battery cables and it still sitting dead again in my driveway. I even had to do the ultimate low and join a chevy club to see how I could fix this constant pain in my rear. I am not going to say what site. But I couldn't get a response if my life depended on it.
This is were this site should get a Kudose and five stars because you people never have left me in the dark. Don't know if it because ford guy seem to be geniuine or chevy guys ahhhh never mind. Many thanks FTE!!!!!!!
I gotta agree with BillyBob69 on why I'm here aswell. I was talking to Clay yesterday and like he said from the moment you join its like your instantly part of the family! everyone is so helpful, and very informative...
Actually I have been around for some time, I'm just a terrible poster. I like to read everyone elses posts. Like I said before first diesel, and I didn't know jack about it. I come here and you guys showed me the ropes and now I feel like a diesel mechanic. Okay maybe not that big.......... I just need a couple grand and I think Id like to do some more upgrades. Did the stancor GPR already. Pillar Gauges came with the truck but had to unplug the pyro one because the previous owner had it piggybacked in a fuse that if you hit a bump the whole truck would stall, and now I forgot which fuse it was to properly reinstall it. Get to that sooner or later. Maybe a DPS sounds in order in the future. But till I get that other vehicle running I wont be spending any more cash on the one I want to. Oh and if your changing your glow plugs don't buy the autolites, got nothing against autolite its just that your 10mm socket will hit the rocker arm and it is a pain.
