New motor build
Hi everyone, Im Larry and new to this board. I have a 1988 F350 Std cab, Dually w/a EFI 460 motor -C6 Tranny and a 10.25 Rearend w/ 3.55 gears. Motor is shot and im ordering a new longblock from "Hemifordman". The name of his business is "460 4rd Street " Appearently all he does is 460 BBF`s. When the new motor is built ill have the cam changed to a Comp XE 256H-14 Hyd Flat tappet, "to be compatible with the speed density ECM" Motor balanced and ARP bolts in the rods and Mains . Also have a set of Doug Thorley`s that are ceramic coated for this truck. I definetly feel its worth it to rebuild this truck rather than spend 40-50 grand or a new one. Its mostly a daily driver with very occasional towing. Im also going thru the C6 w/a rebuild kit to firm up the shifts and ordering a 1200 stall Hughes convertor for better gas milage. Anyone have any other recommendations? Im really more interested in Reliability and Durability and gas milage.Also any recommendations on the Main and rod bearing cleareances for this motor. I will also POR 15 the underside when the motor and tranny is out.
