Driveline ???
IT HAS A C6 TRANS THAT CURRENTLY IS SHOT. I FOUND ANOTHER C6 TRANS OUT OF A 1971 T-BIRD WITH A 429 IN IT AND IS IN GOOD SHAPE THE ONLY PROBLEM IS WHERE THE DRIVE LINE HOOKS ON TO THE TRANS. MY CURRENT TRANS HAS A 4 BOLT FLANGE ON THE END OF THE TRANS OUTPUT SHAFT THAT THE DRIVE LINE HOOKS TOO. THE ONE I AM LOOKING AT BUYING HAS A SLIP YOKE WHERE THE DRIVE LINE ACTUALLY SLIDES INTO THE TRANS ON SOME SPLINES. MY QUESTION COULD I GET THE TRANSMISSION AND JUST PUT A DIFFERENT DRIVE LINE IN TO MATCH UP WITH THE TRANS OR DO I HAVE TO LOOK FOR A TRANS WITH THE SAME 4 BOLT FITTING? IF I WAS ABLE TO JUST GET A DIFFERENT DRIVE LINE WOULD THIS LIMIT THE AMOUNT I COULD HAUL OR PULL IN THE TRUCK OR NOT?
THANKS FOR ANY RESPONCE

The rear shaft setup ran about $115 and the short center shaft was about $85. You should be able to get out for well under $125 for everything.
It's up to you to make sure the length is right. It would be best if you can supply the mating spline to the replacement tranny if it's not too worn. Make sure that if you bottom out the rear suspension that you don't bottom out the yoke. You may have to do some geometry calculations.
I hope this helps.

If done correctly a new rebuild should last for years.
good luck
