Blower Motor

Drove my 79 Bronco to gas station today to fill up and stretch it's legs. On the way back I started smelling something that was burning then the heater stoped blowing. I think the resistor burnt up as I only smelled the burning coming out of the vents and no where else. For now can I bypass the resistor and it just run on high? I just want to make it through winter for now. I only drive it to stretch it's legs some and when the weather is bad, other than that it sets.
