Drivetrain noise?
Ok... I have a clunking noise upon accelerating. I've been reading all of the posts about the slip yoke noise and to grease it and that should get rid of the noise. Didn't work, so must be some other problem. Seems to make the noise only from a complete stop and turning doesn't seem to make it worse. Could this be the clutch packs? My truck only has 66k on it and I never beat it up on the road. It goes off-road about once a month and I give it a decent little workout but don't abuse it. I read in a post that adding more of the friction modifier might help. Any thoughts on that? Stealership wants $110 to 'find the problem' and if it's the clutch packs, they want an estimate of $980. If it turns out to be the clutch packs, I'm thinking of replacing the limited slip with an aftermarket unit since it will cost about the same. Any thoughts guys?
