Shifting into Park ?
JUST took delivery of an '04 Explorer. Runs fine & such - BUT - The column shifter indicater is 1/2 way to the right of a selected gear, and it is sometimes hard to start without fiddling with the shifter. Once we parked it on a slight incline and got out - a few feet away it "ratcheted" and rolled a few feet till the pawl took hold. I was wondering if it might be a simple fix ( something jammed in the linkage), an adjustment, or a real problem. ??

Sounds like a shift cable/linkage adjustment problem. If you got it from a dealer, take it back and have them adjust it to make it work correctly. If you got it from private seller then you would have to take it to a trans shop to get it adjusted. I hope you can get it worked out.
