Running rough than stalls
Hi new to this, and need some help. I changed fuel bowl drain valve and the engine was running great. 1999 7.3 4x4 6 speed manual. That was last nite. This morning it started ok ran good for about 5 min that started knocking real bad and stalled. I don't have a clue. Checked elec. conections they look good. It started hard when I tried again and sounded like it was running on 3 cyl. Could it be the cps or the dreaded uvch? It was 30* this morning, so can't be the fuel. And oil level is good. There is a good chance it is just a large bit of air that has to be worked through. Have had this happen before and the exact scenario as you.

Clay, how long does it take to work the air thru? I haven't run the motor much when it stalled twice after running rough made me nervous didn't want to make things worse, until heard from some one with experience, in this area.

If it is air in the lines just let it idle for a bit and work the air out until the idle evens out.
