7.3 L Laying down need help

Hey yall if you all dont mind I could use a little help. I have a 2000 350 powerstroke 7.3 dually flatbed 4x4 that I cant get to start. The truck sat idle for about 2 or 3 months. I went to start it and it started right up. I let the truck sit and run for about 40 minutes. Then I turned the truck off for about an hour and a half and visited with a friend of mine. Then I started the truck again and started to Clovis N.M. I made it 2.2 miles and the truck acted as if it ran out of diesel. I put 5 gallons of diesel in it and changed the fuel filter. Truck would not start, got a wrecker and took truck back. Next day I changed the camshaft positioning sensor. Truck still would not start. I discovered my fuel pump had quit so I went and got another one and put it on. Truck still wont start on diesel. I can make truck run on little sips of diesel but will not run on diesel, and I noticed that the in dash tach is not operating at all while truck is running on ether. I was hoping that this might be something that someone else might have experienced. Any useful help would be greatly appreciated. By the way does anyone know how to make a homemade code reader for this truck. Thank you all very much, James P.S. truck only has 183000 miles

Welcome to FTE!

Is your SES light on?
Did you check your oil before starting?
Check your HPOP reservoir and make sure the oil is within 3/4" or so from the top.

To piggy back on this, I'd suggest you stop with the ether, shouldn't really be used except in extreme circumstances IMO. Does the fuel pump continue to run for about a minute or so after you turn the key to on? Does it fill up the fuel bowl?
