5 star tuner v10 van 2005

Hi folks, thought I would give my report on the 5 star tuner.
I bought an 05 v10 E350 van with the torqshift tranny and was frustrated by the fact that it could not be held in fourth gear for towing. I decided to get Mikes 5 star tuner on the group buy and he helped me do the easy install over the phone, only because I am tech challenged, it was embarrassingly easy with his help.
I got the 87 economy
89 octane towing which locks it in 4th
91 performance which I haven't tried yet.

Well I really like the way the transmission shifts now and the fact I can push the tow haul mode and it will stay in fourth if I need it to.
The economy mode it ran about the same as stock in performance and I think I was getting a little better economy from my calculator. I put it up on to the 89 towing within a couple of days, I had to wait to get the tank down to fill up with better fuel. Well the 89 octane was like having a couple of cylinders added to my V10. The difference is like my half ton 5.4 stepping up to the v10 again.
I have an 02 V10 van which is bone stock and has the 4R100 tranny and its no slouch, but I have been able to do back to back comparisons. My newer van has 3.73 and the old one has 4.10 which does make a big difference in performance. The newer 3.73 with the 5 star will smoke the 4.10 in every respect, so much so that I am going to tow using the 3.73 and see how it does, just haven't had time to check that realm out, but I am very impressed with Mike and he answered the phone 3 out of the 4 times I have called, and called me back in 10 minutes on the last one.
My fuel mileage on 89 is .75 of a mile per gallon up, even using the extra power.
In the winter with the winter fuel I would get 12 mpg with my old van and this one was about the same. My last two tanks I have gotten 12.75, lots more power and in the summer I believe it will go up to around 14 like it normally does.
I will let you know when I tow what happens.
Andrew.

Hi Mike, I have driven the van a lot in the last week and there is nothing I would like to change. I have found your set up to be right for me. I like the way it shifts, when it shifts, and I am thinking that you were right when you said 30-40lbs of torque, and because of that increase I might not have to put 4.10 gears in this van to tow.
I don't know yet what the diffence is on 91 but I will get to find out after I tow a bit next week.
Thanks, I almost backed out on this thing but glad you helped me.
Andrew.
