need help

hey yall new here and not real sure of protocol here. I've got a 2000 f350 7.3 auto. 4x4 dually flatbed. This is the fourth ford diesel I have had in the last few years. The truck sat for about 2 or 3 months and I went to start it. It started right up and I let it idle for about 40 minutes. I then turned the truck off for about an hour and a half while visiting with a friend of mine. I started the truck again and started on my trip, the truck started up just fine. I drove 2.2 miles and the truck seemed to run out of fuel. I added fuel and the gauge came up to a little above a quarter tank. So I dont think it was out of fuel. Next I changed the fuel filter and tried to get truck to start then I got a wrecker. Next day I changed the fuel filter, still no running truck. Then I changed the camshaft positioning sensor. Still no running truck. I can make the truck run on little sips of ether but truck dies when I quit spraying ether. The in dash tach does not work when truck is running on either. Really could use some good help dont have a bunch of cas right now. Thanks James... collinsdrilling@yahoo.com
