Fuel Filter Reminder

With it being in the Cold months we all need to think about the fuel filter on the truck. With fuel gelling and it just being cold especially with the northern guys. Fuel wont flow Thur a old filter to good I just changed mine and this is what it looked like after about 9000 miles.

Wow Eddie, that's a dirty SOB for only 9K. Thanks for the reminder.

Have you been adding any 2-stroke oil to your fuel?

Were you using oil? That does not look very normal for 9k change.

The only thing I add is diesel keen and I get my fuel from a truck stop by work most of the time. It looks like I got some crap some where? This is why I posted the Pic we don't never know when we get some crappy fuel. So check that filter.

Good deal mine was leaking also plus the drain lever was leaking and after fixing this 1 of the rear plugs was a little wet under it . I should have pulled the bowl and rebuilt it or if it was warm weather I would have deleted it.

should use diesel fuel suppliment in winter time. I would also run thru a tank of 911 or kleen diesel. Looks like you may have tank problems.

Great tip and pic Eddie, is your filter changes always dirty like that ?? Why I ask is my filters are basicly still in great shape even after 15,000 mile, same fuel station, sometimes I'm ticked I even change it out because they are still clean, wished there was a see thru window in the fuel bowl.. Hum..thats a thought.

Mike this is the worst I have ever had. I did run maybe 10 gallons of red fuel during this time because I was at the farm and about out of fuel. But it is better quality than this. I am usually like what you said when I pull it Dang could have went 5-10K more. Since I have had the leaks I just wanted to change it and I am glad I did. Like I said I must have got so crappy fuel some where. Thank goodness for filters. I will probably check it again in about 5000 just to see if its OK?

Interesting. Maybe try staying with the same station for a while and see how your next filter change looks like. To be honest, my filters changes always been pretty decent, never any crud just maybe discolored a bit, nice save, those injectors are expensive.

Robin running 10 gallons of red didnt cause this. We have a very good filter at that tank. It is dirty not red it will come off on my hands black.
I figure I got some fuel some where that was dirty it does happen.
