I found out where my exhaust leak is located. Its between the short piece just before the muffler and where DPF pipe go together. The problem is i can't get the two pieces to go together any further cause of such a tight fit. Anyone have any ideas how to get the delete pipe to go futher inside of the short piece just before the muffler? I can tell now its only in there about 1/2". Looks to me it should go futher to get a good seal. Right now it sounds like a big hair dryer behind me when i get on the throttle.
ok so i need to disconnet or loosen from down pipe first then tighten on other end first. After that reinstall and tighten delete pipe to down pipe correct? I have the dpf / cat delete pipe. I thought this might be the issue cause when i went back to stock everything the exhaust smell mysteriously was gone. Now that i'm back to dpf delete i have the smell again and now much more sound. Kinda like a hair dryer behind the front seats. Very noticeable.
the sound will change some. as the stright delete pipe is far less of a restriction. you have the right idea now on the correct install. You need to seat teh dpf delete pipe all the way in first then tighten back up.
I remove and intall them with a air hammer. but I have done a few.
someone mentioned to heat up the short tube going to the muffler with a torch (make it bigger) and to let the dpf/cat delete pipe get cold (make it smaller). Apparently the temp difference lets the two pieces fit together better. Well see...
Thats for sure less cost is always better. I always hate it when you take it to the dealer and they can't find the issue. I don't don't know how they missed it. Has big black spot where the leak is. Anyway glad to find it.
