The 351M is a real dinosaur. It was fitted to Ford trucks between 1977 and 1982 when the engine was discontinued. The 351W replaced it and was used in trucks through 1996. In 1997 the F150 and F250 LD used the 4.6 and 5.4L modular engines. The 351 and 460 pushrod engines continued in the F series HD 250 and 350 until 1999 with the redesigned Super Duty truck series. At that time the F250 SD could be had with the 5.4 V8 6.8 V10 or 7.3 diesel. Ford did not use the older pushrod engines in trucks period after 1998.
