The backside of the lighter socket unscrews from the front. If you're trying to replace the headlight switch ****, the replacement ***** come with the shaft attached.

There is a tiny little spring-loaded button on top of the headlamp switch, behind the dash. Push the button in and the entire shaft and **** will slide out, then use a flat, wide screwdriver to remove the switch bezel and switch.

The lighter socket is actually two pieces. You have to hold the inner section with one mitt, unscrew the outer shroud with your other mitt.

Otherwise, you'll be turning the whole tamale till Armageddon comes.

The inner portion of the lighter socket has a threaded stud on the end. The wire does not connect to this stud, because...

In between the stud and the wire is this little darlin' FEW14429A .. Lighter Fuse. It's shaped like a barrel.

This puppy threads onto the stud, it has a threaded stud on the other end for the wire...which just pushes on.

If your lighter doesn't work, this fuse is either missing or has blown. The originals had a hole in them, the later fuses do not.

If the fuse has the hole, stick a paper clip into it to reset the fuse.

i'm eventually going to have to wire mine up. is anyone selling that "little darling(FEW14429A) " or is it something easily put together via a parts store?. i've never seen one and don't know if it's anything other than just a fuse or a small assembly of some sort(i've been eyeing the receptacle on my 94 lincoln, looks the same and would take my wife two weeks to figure out it's gone).

thanks
