can you all help? i have a 78 f-250 and i have to push down all the way on my peddle to the floor for the truck to stop does any one know what is wrong???????????????
This can be many things.
First check to see if you have signs of fluid leaking, especially at the wheels and master cylinder/ brake booster.
Did this happen suddenly or over time?
Is the master cylinder low on fluid?
Im fixing to be replacing the master cylinder in my truck. Unless you hit the brakes hard the pedal will go to the floor. Especially if your at a stop sign a while it will leak down. The harder you push though it pushes out that seal and will make it seal. Just a problem of old age, may be your problem to. Probably a good idea to bleed the system and get some new fluid circulating. Brake fluid collects moisture over the years. You can ruin a new bottle of brake fluid by leaving it open all day, it will absorb the moisture in the air.

that is how i got it im just trying to fix and drive it i love it
It is important to look and see if the system is leaking.
If not, then I would adjust the rear brakes. This could be the problem. If the adjusters don't turn, then you will have to pull the drums and repair whats needed to get the adjusters working.
