Door Lock Problem

I noticed awhile ago none of my keys will unlock my drivers side door (passenger side unlocks fine). Not a big deal since I have the remote unlock. But the other day my buddy told me that on his chevy he couldnt lock his door at all since the remote and key didnt work. So of course after saying this, my remote unlock quit working for my drivers side. It slides the lock up just a little, but not enough to unlock it. It might just be the cold weather, but I like to blame the chevy fan. First question is do I need to replace the whole lock system on the drivers side to get a key to work again? And is there just a motor inside the door controlling the unlock that needs replaced? If either of these can be fixed relatively cheap I'd like to fix it. But if its gonna be a big hassle and a pain the wallet, Ill just let it go.

Alright good to hear. What exactly is an actuator and how is it replaced? Just a bolt on?

Yes it's pretty much bolt on. It's basically the plunger that moves your lock up and down
