Have not had 4 wheel drive in a couple of years,I think I might have multiple problems.Latest problem is I turned switch on dash to 4 wheel low an Truck is now stuck in low rear wheels only, 2004 lariat. When I turn switch now has no effect on 4x4 or low signal light on dash Thanks Owen
The first thing to check is fuses and relays. I would also check to see if there is a broken wire going to the transfer case. If you lock in the hubs manually, do you have 4x4 then?
You probably can't do a search of this forum until you have 10 posts, but that would give you a bunch of things to check. The most common on the ESOF is a vacuum leak, but that also tends to cause problems with the heat/air conditioning controls. It you scroll through the threads for the last few days, there are probably several other threads dealing with this. ESOF is a regular problem that pops up here.
Try putting the switch in 4 low with the truck running and in neutral then shut the truck down and restart it in neutral with your foot on the brake and then switch it to 2wd. This may not help you but I've had mine lock up a couple of times if I forget to switch into neutral before moving the switch in or out of 4 low. Cycling the ignition cleared it up for me. Good luck.
Welcome to the most informative SD site around. There are plenty of ESOF threads within the first ten pages I am sure you can find something within those. However just a few questions, when you put it in 4Low were you in neutral with your foot on the brake, if not are you sure it went into 4low, were you in 4HI before that? Not sure if your original post is saying that there are no 4x4 lights lit up at all on the dash now. We will need some more info to help you out.
tHE LIGHTS R ON 4X4 AND LOW RANGE TURNING THE DIAL ON THE DASH FROM 2WHEEL TO 4 4WHEEL HIGH OR 4 WHEEL LOW HAS NO EFFECT ON THE LIGHTS THEY STAY ON .FRONT AXLE IS ENGAGED.
