Actually they expand the stock plenum as you insert them since the stockers are actually rolled in at the top. There is only a .164" difference between stock and the inserts in internal diameter.

We only offer them anodized, but it adds very little to the purchase price since we do them in large bulk orders and combine with other parts as well. Bottom line, if it would save you money we would definately make it an option.

Peter.. shouldn't you have some steel mesh in the plenum? I have a little grate in mine..

The mesh didn't happen till later for some reason. I guess Ford figured out that it sucks to drop something in there, LOL.

Yeah because mine is a 2000, it doesn't have them. I would change them out, but its such a PITA to do...

Boy ain't that the truth. Especailly the passenger side. Been there, done that, never again. One of the reasons these inserts are such a great idea.

I just ordered a set of these (along with a DP Tuner!!). I'm not sure that I have a leak, but it's almost guaranteed to happen due to the design. Once again, Clay has come up with a simple, effective, quality solution.
