I just purchased my 05 Ex and got to use it this morning during our first blizzard of the season. I had it in 2 wheel in the garage and put it in 4 wheel before backing out but it did not engage (light on dash did not come on and I continued to slip). I drove forward again thinking it would engage but nothing. I put it back to 2 wheel and then put it in neutral and back to 4 wheel and then it engaged. The hubs are set on auto.
Is this how the Ex is suppose to work? I did not expect the delay for the 4 wheel to engage or do I need to get it serviced??

That's NOT how it should work. You should not need to shift to neutral to engage 4X4. I would shift in/out of 4X4 a few more times to see if it does the same thing. Also, listen for the electric motor that is physically engaging 4X4 at the transfer case - you should be able to hear it. Maybe it was just stiff from lack of use? If the symptoms persist, you may want to have it looked at.
