Guages

Anyone on here with the 08-10 installed any guages? I really am struggleing with the idea of putting in a guage pod vs a plugin in the OBI port.

Just wondered if any has and what it looked like.

I already have decided on a pyro, amps and oil pressure.

I have always like gauges vs monitors.

I use my OBD monitor and like it but I agree with you on wanting "real" gauges. There's nothing like an analog needle.

A nice pillar mount with adjustable lighting would be cool. I don't know where else you would put them in the '08 and up dash.

I think that is what I will do. Have to get it to the creme color to blend into the pillar but not too hard i think.

I might add that i want something to I am not in fear of it being stolen if I am parked somewhere. That I guess is what holds me back from a plug in device.

I had the 3 pod pillar on my 06 and loved them. I will probably go with a plug in device on the 08 though. The ability to monitor more than 3 things, or to change your mind on what you want to monitor, is very appealing.

well, I did a bunch of cost comparison's and since it is so cold here and I would need to have the pod painted I decided to go with the banks IQ. I have been aware of it and I did really like all the features but in the end it was the best price for the bang.

Now I need to work on the mounting as I am not going to put it up on the dash.

I think you made a good choice with the IQ. As Caprang said, it's nice to monitor other things.

The home screen on my Insight is:

EGT
Coolant temp
engine oil temp
DPF temp

I can hit a button and see boost pressure, injector pulse width (I have no idea), regen status, vehicle speed, tach, fuel level, 2 other EGT sensors and maybe a couple other things. It's fun to play with.

I think so as well. Guess the only thing is you have to remove it so it doesn't walk away.

I am going to put it down below the TBC/upfitter switches. I have a mounting plate there already that i use for my GPS.

I removed my cup holder door below the upfitters to mount my CB. Came out great. As I was doing it I thought about tilting the CB a little to mount a GPS or IQ. I also did some searching on the web and found a company that makes a piece to mount between the console and dash just for these kinds of things. I will dig up the link and post it.

that is a great idea. I don't have the cup holders there though. I guess because I have the center console?

Still would like to see the link and there maybe something there I am looking for.

I thought all 08's had the cup holders in the dash? Whats under your upfitters? There is no fold down door with cup holders inside?

here is a version from Havis Shields.
Havis: C-VS-1200-F250-1: Console, Vehicle specific, 12" Total mounting space, 90 Degrees, Housing complete, Ford F-250, 08-10
they offer different models and can essentially make what you want.

no door there on mine. Not sure why, it might have been ordered that way, who knows. I just have the empty space there smooth backing. So what your pics do tell me I can probably get away with mounting something against that, your link for havis may just be what I am looking for, thanks!
