i have a 96 2wd with 302 and a 5 speed tranny. im always changing my exhaust because i can never seem to be happy with it. at the moment i have stock manifolds going to 2.5 duals out before each rear wheel. no cats with resonator tips. it sounds good but just has that manifold tone to it. i found these hooker headers. 6907HKR. seem like a good deal but have read alot were cheaper headers dot fit very well and the buget dosn't allow for more expensive ones. has anyone used these or have opinions? thanks
I dont know about Hooker for our trucks but they were always top of the line years ago!Now for our trucks Conanski has Flowtechs and likes them also someone did a post on Pacesetters and they looked to be well made and fit well these are two that I know of
i had read a post were they used flowtchs and they fit horribley and ended up getting pacesetters. i think conanski had said something about being interested in the pacesetters also but they are about a hundred dollars more and i dont really have an extra hundred dollars. i always thought hookers were pretty good quality
I have a set on my truck for the most part they seem alright. But i dont know how long they have been on there but about ever 6 months i have to get under there and tighten the bolts. Also the flange where your exhaust was rusted out so when i had my exhaust put on they welded it to the header to get it to seal up. but they might have rusted out because of the old pipe that was used on the last system that was on it.
i bought flowtech headers before and it didn't fit well. there was exhaust leaks at the flange where it bolted to the heads on both sides. i was pissed off to say the least. i did have hooker headers in the past and it was good headers and still are. although this time i wanted to try something different and went with headman headers and i am happy to say they worked out well for me. the only thing i had to do was to cut the y-pipe in the middle at the bottom just before it connected to the right side to shorten it up a bit cause it was a little to wide to bolt up to the headers. other than that it was good to go. hope this helps you some.
Hooker headers always makes a quality product... when it comes to any auto parts you pay what you get for most of the time. But yeah there pretty descent headers and wont disappoint you.
well they changed the application of that part. it says it wont fit with a standard now, which it said it would a couple months ago when i first started looking at these. onlyonescomingup now that will fit with a standard are the pacesetter headers. which i have heard alot of goo things about but are a good deal more than the hookers. where can i find the best price on the pacesetters
Summit brand headers are pacesetters. I am running the Shortys on my 91. They fit good, have all the smog hook ups, and they even clear my GT40p heads.
try looking on line at summit.com.....they usually have parts in stock for most cars and trucks..........unless its out of stock and you'd have to wait for it...........
