Now that winter is here about 10degrees outside, I have been noticing that my truck (97 F250 power Stroke7.3L(Bronco Style)). has been surging a awful lot after i take off almost to the point of dieing on me. I start it by cycling the glow plugs about 3 times then it fires up like normal. It takes about 30 seconds before it starts to run on all 8 cylinders. then i will give it about 5 more mins to warm up a little more.
Once I take off it does alright for about a mile or so, until it begins to sputter and hop and jump LIKE CRAZY under any load or acceleration (like if it where out of fuel). Is this because the fuel in the lines is so cold?
Or could it be something else, It finally goes away by the time its at the normal running temp and the thermostat is in it operation range , which it will not get to unless its driving around or idling for a really long time.
I also have a edge Chip put in the tow mode may be part of the problem.
Thanks for your ideas and help
