front end problems
Any help would be appreciated!! Recently my 04 FX4 started shuddering in 2 wheel drive when takiing off from a dead stop with the wheels cut, now when you shift on the fly into 4 hi it makes a kind of grinding noise then almost slams into 4 wheel. If you put it in 4 hi when the truck is stopped, it doesn't make noise but I can feel a shake in the front end. Any suggestions as to what it might be?

sounds like the front 4x4 hubs are engaged. the hubs are activated by a vacuum system, which may be out of whack. I would recommend that you search the forum a bit. There's a good thread on trouble shooting this system.

thanks fr your help, now on to the next problem. I had an accident with the truck, abd it won't start now. Some people have told me it will have to go to the dealer to have something reset. any suggestions?
