hey guys i know most of you talk about the 6 gun tuner from banks is a great tuner but anybody have or ever tried the black maxx tuner with the HOT setting supposedly it gives you an additional 250+ HP and 600+ MORE TQ. is this safe on a stock engine or is this even true. to me it seems to easy.
help me out
Yea its for the 2008 6.4L TD and no I don't sell them I saw them on a web site I thought it was 5 Star tuning I just wasn't sure if it was safe or not and I wanted to hear some feedback on it that's all
I only know of one tuner that has dyno records to show gains of that much and that's the Spartan Phalanx tuner for the 6.4s.
5 Star I think just does the gassers, I don't think they do diesel. I could be wrong, but I've never seen him chime in on diesel tuning only when it concerns the gassers.
Spartan definitely has the corner on 6.4 tuning over SCT. In fact, the die hards that would recommend the SCT tuner for the 6.0s, actually recommend Spartan instead when it comes to the 6.4.

Although 5 Star Tuning specializes in the gas engines, they develop tunes for the diesel engines as well.
Yea I think maybe in a couple months I'm just gonna end up getting the SCT livewire don't quite have the money because of xmas and I just spent 35000 on myself buying my new f350

Ha! You make it sound like getting the SCT Livewire is a serious compromise... LOL. While I will admit that having a "state of the art" tuner like the Black Maxx would be great, I question the real benefit when you consider that it costs twice as much as the SCT Livewire.
If I were you, I wouldn't use any aftermarket tuner for the first year of your new SD truck. Let the engine break-in with the OEM tune to ensure that any engine or transmission issue is fully covered by your factory warranty. Thereafter, if you really feel that you need and/or want the additional HP/TQ available from an aftermarket tuner, then get one knowing that your engine and transmission are operating without issue.
LOL I think in my mind I just dont want to spend another dime on this thing but u have a good point I still have over 2 years and over 40000 miles left on the powertrain

Wow, you do some serious driving! You've already clocked 60,000 miles on your 2008 F350?
