Head gaskets

I was watching power block a couple weeks ago and on horse power they were building a chevy engine. The head gaskets they used were 3 layers of stainless with membranes between. They claimed that as the head lifted a little with compression the gasket expanded with it to keep the seal. Do they make these for our engines? It seems they would be a great help with higher boost levels.

a little off topic.but i used to have an old car with a 400m.the biggest gain i saw was when adding intake gaskets with a screen inside.man that thing loved how it broke up the fuel from the carb so more air could mix with it!
as far as increasing compression i doubt it.id be very careful at least with the 7.3 these are not gassers, and already have more than twice the compression of course.
the biggest thing i think our engines want is air, air, and more air.
i cant wait til mines on the road so i can see if a turbo is in order.
it looks like many are finding some really sweet deals on turbos due to the age of our trucks now.have you considered adding a turbo?(didn't see you have one in the sig.this is the largest single gain for our motors)
open that stock exhaust up is sure to make a world of difference too.
air in,and air out seems to be our priority for most hp/trq/mpg gains with our idi's.
compression isn't our weak link.

I had a turbo lined up for $300 but my tranny died and had to replace it instead. I am still working on the exhaust part. I wanted to wait on the turbo but think I with go ahead and build it now instead. I am gonna jump up to 3" right off the manifolds and run them out the sides before the rear wheels. No mufflers. I love to here this thing roar. It currently has n omuffler and it sounds great.

Agreed, the muffler is a wasted expense and something for the ground to grab onto anyway. Starting cheap with improved intake, K&N, and oversized pipe, less the muffler, when exhaust work is due will be modestly noticeable.

Compression is not the weak link, well it is sort of the the downfall though when adding a turbo.

With a 21.5 to 1 base compression ratio, 15 pounds of boost jumps the compression ratio up to 43.4 to 1.

With stock head bolts, that is about all they can handle.
