Well, I have a delimma. To do my 400 buildup, obviously I need an engine kit. I have 2 options here based on price.
1) summit kit that includes TRW Fordged pistons, but no cam or timing chain kit. About $380.
2) Sealed Power master kit. About $396, includes stock cam and timing chain kit, forged pistions (both kits are stock compression ratio)
I know Summit puts out some good kits, my shop teacher that is teaching me how to do my machining thinks pretty highly of them. But what about Sealed Power? Are they a decent company? Can I expect high quality pieces from them?
I've always had real good luck with Federal Mogoul Sealed power engine kits. They come with everything you need, and everything is of good qaulity, including fel-pro Gaskets. I've had good luck with summit on some Items too, but have also been dissatisfied with some of thier products- because of a recent bad expirience with Summit, I am not going to be using them anymore. IMHO, you should go with sealed power.
On those 2 particular kits, they are both good. But if the sealed power kit comes with more of what you need and if that particular sealed power kit does indeed have Fel-Pro gaskets with it, then I would definately go with sealed power.Sealed power is a good performance kit maker.
