Rust issues

My '02 has "rust dust" issues along the door bottoms, tail gate bottom and other weld seams. It only has 75K on it; but I want a vehicle that's going to look decent for a few years. Are there any model years that have a better track record? My '00 Econoline has 150K and no rust issues at all.

p.s. Any suggestions on addressing the rust issue?
