I think BroncoII's are pretty lame lol. My first thought was a ranger with rocks, but then I had an idea for an old cab on a current frame. New drivetrain, but old body. Just need to find a suitable body. I was thinking 40's truck.. but i'm not sure yet. Maybe i'll start building a buggy? I wanted to get a tube bender anyways, building a buggy gives me a reason to buy one. I might sell the metal lathe soon too, so it'll free up some room in the shop.
But who knows, i've still got the MGB to finish restoring. I havn't done a whole lot to it. I replaced clutch lines, a fuel pump, some crap on the front end, rebuilt the carb and now i'm going to rebuild the brake and clutch master cylinders. Then HOPEFULLY it will be safe to drive. I'm just itching to get going on that body work. I have some pretty good paint designs to lay down on the car. I'm getting really anxious to try out my new tools lol.
Edit:
Crazy thought, I wonder how an MGB would look with rockwells?? Hahaha.
if i were drunker, i would say mgb on a bronco frame, but oddly enough there are a few on blazer frames around here and i think they are reatarded looking. i wish i could find a pic i used to have of a 40's cab with a tow tuck boom on a flatbed on an old bogger. it was sweet. it might have even been a chevy, but either way it was an old cab with good lines on a newer frame with big tires/axles
I've seen a few 40's trucks that I liked. Leroy's '49 was one I liked. And the '41 dodge was pretty cool. Brand doesn't really matter right, as long as its FORD POWERED. Haha. I was thinking if I could just pick up a cab and maybe grille then I could just build the front end. Just something simple to cover up the engine with some fenders. (Or maybe not?)
If you could find the MGB on a blazer frame, that'd be pretty funny to see lol.
it has been for sale for at least 10 years, and i have seen 1 or 2 more around here in that time. about the cab and grill, i've seen a few readers ride's over the years in petersens 4wheel and offroad that were just that. almost always works out cool. i do like the idea of a ratrod like 4x4. cheap, simple, and purpose built. the older cabs just have cool lines and fenders that you will never ever see again
i see a lot of trars in illinois. not so many lately, but they used to be everywhere. i've seen a 78 camaro on 44's, multiple el camino's, the mgb's, a 50's cadillac, and a few others that are too ugly to remember
Yeah some things make me wonder why you would lift it. Imagine an 80's Lincoln town car with 40's. Why on earth would you lift that?? Ugliest piece of **** i've ever seen.
Well I got into an argument earlier with a friend of mine. He thinks my truck is too tall to be a capable trail rig. I mean, I get around fine, but he thinks i'm going to flop it over.
