Follow the directions to clean the wiring harness at both ends, with the priority on the end that plugs into the box at the brake pedal area.

In my case, total failure "fixed" itself.... which almost certainly says it is either a bad connection or short to ground.

Do you have a moisture problem in the truck? Operate in areas with road salt?

Is there evidence of rust on the anti-dive (metal) panel?

You could be right.

We just got 30 inches of snow and the truck was outside with the block heater plugged in. The hood was completly thawed after the storm so maybe the melting snow from the block heater got into something??

Salt.... and moisture..

Your shoes, boots track snow and slush into car... they melt in heat ... and then moisture in air.. condense onto wiring.. with a bit of salt dust... voila.

can you help me in where that plug is.

it says the wiring harness has an end that plugs into
a box at the brake pedal. Where is the other end of the harness?

Thanks, Thanks, Thanks.

I don't know your model...

Mine is a E series... follow the 2 wires from the top of the instrument panel (look way up from foot well) and you can see it).

Find out where it terminates.. and you are there.

Sorry....2003 F250

Its only a 2 wire harness?

I feel stupid asking that question so I'm probably still confused.

I'll try to figure it out in the morning. The truck is now parked @ 1/4 mile away from
the house at the bottom of our hill. I finally got it down there but it won't be back up
here for a while even with 4X4. Too much snow.

Its been a pretty tough week here. The tractor broke to
but I figured that one out.

Thanks again for your help. Merry Christmas and blessings to you and your family.

Got it...You are too cool.

How can we help you now?

Maybe a "cool" million dollars would help? LOL

Our sincere appreciation is all we can offer tonight though.

Thanks again

Another tip.

Do this work in a heated garage AFTER the vehicle interior comes to temperature and warm inside.

You risk breaking plastic that is cold and rigid working in the cold.

If you cannot do this.. 2nd best is to heat the cab HOT with motor running and also aux heater after you turn it off.

Then work on it.

BUT only do electrical / plastic / trim removal etc. when things are warm!!!!!

Good luck.

More good advice. Don't have anything heated large enough for
the truck. We have a friend that has a garage we can take it to if needed.

I'm not opposed to going to the dealer for the repairs either. Just
want to try to fix it ourselves first and maybe learn something in
the process. Its not a very hospitable environment for the learning
part right now though

Whatever your problems are (we all got em) I'll fix them if I can.
Just don't ask me nutin bout no intrumant klustir <smile>
