Automatic Shifter won't shift when cold

Have a 94 f150 302 automatic. The transmission shifter is really stiff and impossible to shift when it is freezing out. After the engine runs and the cab is warm, works fine, so am guessing there is moisture in the linkage someplace. Any suggestions where to lube it or do I have to get a new cable or linkage.

Try lubing the linkage on the transmission. I don't think it's in the column- but if you'd want to find out for sure, try warming up the engine with the windows for the cab down so heat doesn't build up. That'll tell you for sure if it's in the column or not.

My 5speed fiero used to do that, it was ice on the selector cables, which was a pain in the *** if you parked in gear because you had to sit in the car and hold the clutch until it got hot enough to melt the ice.

I'd get under the truck and make sure the linkage is well lubed, spray it in WD40 or something that will lube it a bit and not freeze.
