I need I new fan shraud for my 1978 F-150. It has the big stand up radiator and a 400 CID engine. Mine broke a while back and I need to by a new one before I do something stupid and cut my arm off on tbe fan!!
Good luck on finding one in decent shape. I had this problem a couple of months back... I had found one at a junkyard that was in decent shape but about 2" to narrow. My solution (it was the only one I could find for $25) out came the Sawzall and cut it in half...bolted up both sides and added a brace across the top. Works great for now, until, I can find another one that is actually correct for my '78 w/ 400. Good luck, Rick
i agree with the fiberglass method. You only need pieces of the shround to make it fit. All of the mounting tabs as well as a reinforcement along the top are fiberglass on mine, and it works fine.
I decided to take my chances and call Ford.
I called my local dealership and they can special order on for around $60. That's still high but it is better. The reason I do not want to fix my old one is because I am fixing the truck to show condition and my old shroud is just plain rotten.
