Just wanted to know the capacity of the tank on my 2000 f350 SWB. I've heard 29, 35, and 39 gallons...can't seem to get more than 25 into her on a full fillup, just wondering.
Question #2: Pulled an overhead computer from a 02 f350 DWB cause mine went southIs the MPG going to be correct if the tanks hold different amounts of fuel? "Probably a stupid question"
Shortbed Superdutys have a 30 gallon tank and the longbeds have 38 gallon tanks.
But when filling, the nozzle will click off way before that, you can keep adding a little at a time after it clicks off to eventually fill the tank or you can do the Harpoon mod which will let you actually fill the tank before the nozzle clicks off!!!

Question #1 - MY00 Short Bed = 29.0 Gal. (109 L), MY00 Long Bed = 38.0 Gal. (143 L)
Question #2 - If the truck you took the OTC module off of was a short bed, it would be a direct swap. However, if the truck the OTC module came off of was a long bed it would not provide accurate readings. You would have to take your truck to the dealer after you install the new one so they can hook it up to a Ford diagnostic computer which has the ability to program the OTC module for the correct tank size. In the case of your 29 Gal. tank it would be...
I have a crew cab short bed with a "29 gallon" tank. When I did the in-tank mods, I shortened the vent tube (harpoon mod as mentioned). there was about 2 gallons in the tank when I dropped it, and drained it into a 5 gallon bucket. After refilling the 2 gallons, I went to the closest diesel station, and pumped in an additional 32 gallons.
I'm not sure if you have a diesel or a gasser, but there is about 5 more gallons that you can pump in it you pump slowly. Or, you can shorten the vent tube, and fill it almost slam full before the pump ever cuts itself off.
Now I try not to get below a quarter of a tank on the gauge, but when I fill it up when the needle is at 1/4, I usually can pump in about 25-27 gallons before the pump cuts off. Hope this helps answer your question.
Interesting info as my 02 CC SB King Ranch F250 V10 was close to empty (fuel light ON) and it only took 20 gallons. Overhead showed 12 miles to empty?? Sometimes my fuel guage acts up though. After a fill up sometimes takes a day or more to go back up to full?? Could the sending unit in the tank be bad and throwing everything off??
I used to have an '02 250 V10 that occasionally would not show full on the gauge for several miles after fillup. If you are really interested in fillup gallons, why not start monitoring miles between fillups and gallons used--that would tell you if you are really near empty. On my '02, I could never go more than 300 miles (short bed tank) before getting scared about running out--when towing, that dropped to 150-175 miles.
