in aug i was told i needed 2 new injectors by ford it ran good for 5 mins the funny thing was about 3 months earlier i had a fire and imimdeitly the a/c switch stopped working still had clod air just wouldnt switch between floor and defrost stayed on defrost after the injectorswere put in i got about 1 mile had to turn around truck ran like crap but the selector switch started working weird told them to fix and i was pissed thought man just spent 2000 to get this thing running. Never completely ran efficient. About 1 month ago started running badly. But once warmed up, smoothed out. Decided to change oil immediately ran so bad could not go anywhere. Had diagnosed, said number 3 injector weak, no 5 injector dead, glow plugs leaking. While there, found out vacuum pump not working correctly. Replaced it, nothing immediately happened. Today, went to use truck to move some snow out of the way and switched into 4-wd, and wa-la! AC selector switch started working, truck ran good. So, you tell me -- any advice is helpful. What do I have going on? Can't keep putting money into something that's not working and am not buying new injectors until I know what to look for. Sounds like it could be the infamous Vacum Leak syndrome lol,,,on an ESOF equipped truck,,maybe start by checking the Vacum lines behind each front wheel that goes into the bearing assembly,,look for cracks or broken vacum line,,,Good Luck!
As said the blower flap runs off vacuum. Which also drives the auto hubs in the 99+ trucks. It's my understanding that on the diesel engine manifold pressure and the vacuum driven systems such as ESOF and A/C are not connected. Perhaps, the last time a tech was under the hood he reconnected something that was left undone while messing something else up. It sounds to me like the only real connection between the diesel engine running poorly and the vacuum system acting up was someone was under the hood working on it.
