98 4WD Problem
I have a 1998 4.6L and I've replaced the motor on the rear transfer case as well as the selanoid on the firewall behind the battery and I still have no 4x4. The 4H light will come on after flashing and clicking about 3 or 4 times but it will not engage. The 4L light won't even come on. I have gotten in to engage in 4H, but then it wouldn't switch back to 2H unless I turned the truck off and back on again with the switch in the 2H position. Now it doesn't engage at all. I'm totally at a loss. Any suggestions??

You might have some water leaks on the top or side of your windshield.The water finds it's way into the GEM and screws it up.The GEM controls all body functions and the 4x4 engagement.If you have power lock or power window problems this could be a sign of a GEM issue.The fix is a new windshield and a new GEM ,$$$$$.
Also,the actuator on the front axle sticks a lot and needs to be freed up occasionally.This will prevent the front axle from engaging.
