I am trying to figure out what flexplate I need or what will fit on my 240 I-6 in my 65 F-100. I am converting from a 4 speed to an automatic. A local wrecking yard has one for a 300, will it fit? Are they specific to certain trannies? The wrecking yard had a couple flexplates from 200's and 250's that were mated to C4's, and told me they would work ( since I am getting a c4). Is this true. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.

The 300 and the 240 were the same basic engine so it should be a direct bolt in swap, trannys are interchangeable between the two engines. Just stay within the same engine family. The 200's and 250's are a different engine family from the 240/300.

Ok, another question to add... the C4 I am planning on getting was matched to a 302. Even though the two motors use the same bellhousing, will the same 300 flexplate still work?
