I REALLY LIKE THIS TRUCK THE BODY IS IN GOOD SHAPE, DO YOU KNOW ANYONE THATS LOOKING FOR 360 BIG BLOCKS, CAN PICK THEM UP HERE IN KY FOR 2, TO 300 DOLLARS GOOD ENGINES.
THANKS FROM THE BOSS.
L.Boss, if you aint mad or just like acting that way, turn them caps off, that is considered screeming or shouting. I know you aint mad cause you're trying to ask questions nicely.
Engine replacement is like a lot of other things around here, it's mostly opinion. Most opinions that I have read concerning engines lean toward local rebuilding rather than exchange. You can get two fellers cussing remans, and another will step in and say I got 165,000 miles on my exchange engine. I have bought two exchange engines from the same place, and lost them both to the same cause.
After saying that I would find a local rebuilder to rebuild my engine, that way if you want to add a little here ot there, he will be willing to work with you. I'd say expect to pay somewhere in the $1500.00 to $2000.00 range. If you start buying diddys like I did you can go well beyond that.
The FE engines are pretty popular as well as heavy, so there is no advantage in picking up a 600 pound engine and driving it from KY to NC. IMHO :-)

Just a little more info. I just got my built 400 running last week. The only part I really didnt want to do, was the bottom end. Basically just the rotating assembly. Its so easy to have a company just send you the bottom end completely assembled and ready to go. The problem can be finding a good company to do the work. I HIGHLY recomend Engine Factory Inc. They are out of New Jersery. The nice thing about them, is the are totally willing to build the engine to your specs!!! I looked for almost 6 months for a place that would do that for me. They will just order the parts you want, and will assemble it how you ask them too. They do excellent work. If you go to their website, there is a page that explains their entire rebuild process. They are extremely thorough, right down to balancing every engine, and even honing the lifter bores. Anyway, they definatley did an awsome job with my 400, I was very happy. You can check them out at www.enginefactory.com Good Luck!!!
If you're looking for an engine rebuilder, there is a place in Nebraska by the name of Marshall Engines that deals with local auto parts stores.
I don't know about V8's but for 300-6 they have a 3 year/50,000 mile warranty. I was told by the local parts store that marshall's will replace the engine one time within the warranty period if you bust a radiator hose and burn your engine up.
I watched a video of the Marshall's engine rebuilding process in their 100,000 plus square feet facility.
The price I was given for a 300-6 long block was $1225.00 w/exchange. With a 3 year/50,000 mile warranty that a good deal I think.
have any of you guys had any experience with them?
