whats this part

curious as to what this pump looking thing is under the driverside battery on an 02 f250 and is it supposed to make a buzz sound for 2 sec after i turn the key on

ABS pump.
Are you sure it's the ABS pump that is buzzing and not the vacuum pump?

not sure, when i turn the key on and wait for about 5 seconds this pump looking thing sound like it quickly spins over then stops. the reason im curious is the sound it makes is the very much like the sound i here when the torque converter locks kind of a moan or groan or vibrating noise

I may be just talking out of my **** here but is it doing a quick self test? I know my motorcycle does at about 1-2 mph when you first fire it up.
