Radio Head Unit
I would like to change the radio in my 2003 Explorer which has the premium sound system in it with the rear overhead DVD player. Any suggestions on what radio to go with that will also recognize when the DVD player is in use? Thank you!!

I think you'll have a tough time finding a unit that will recognize the rear DVD player and allow for the dual mode audio. I've seen kits to interface with the steering wheel controls, but don't recall any that speak to the DVD player. Additionally, the factory subwoofer uses differential audio signals to the amplifier, it's not as straight forward to interface with as it might seem. I'm not trying to question your reason for going aftermarket, but what do you seek in changing out the deck? Does the stock unit malfunction, or are you just looking for better sound? If just better sound, consider replacing the speakers in the door first and seeing if that suites your desires.

Radio Head unit
I'm looking to change for 2 reasons. The first is the radio doesn't play mp3 disc. I can't make a disc with lots of music that will play. The second is the cd player is starting to malfunction.
