302 or 351c

I have a 1969 f100 with a newely installed c-6, matted to my 240il6. The 302 I already own, but can get a 71 351c with headers, flywheel, instake and 2bb carb for 500. I was planing on putting one of these engines into my 67. Will a 351c fit into the smallblock bellhouse and which seems to produce more torq or hp. I know the 302 is smaller, but is it a more relible motor....

One of my most basic questions is weather a 351c with use a small block tranny bolt pattern.

Thanx in advance.

Clevelands are a love em or hate em breed. People will argue many points for and against them. They were popular in the 70s because there were alot of aftermarket parts available. Today, there are many more aftermarket parts for 302s and 351w that really make em run, plus the Windsor motors are much lighter in weight. Less weight=horepower.
I would stick with the Windsor motor.IMO

if your planning on babying the truck..the Cleveland is Definitly not the way to go....they seemed to like to be driven hard....i guess that goes with the close tolerance in the heads thing..
the cleve is a smallblock bolt pattern....
a 302 is a very reliable engine..i used to have an 85 ford...302..it had 300 000 KM's on it( i'm canadian)
and i drove it to the pan at all time.s...no probelms...

There is a c6 trans for the small block but it is different then the big block.
The cleveland out performed any windsor motor due to the fact that even the 2v heads had greater flow, stock, then a heavyly port windsor head. It doesn't take much to wake a 351c up,carb cam and header, the air flow ability is already there, as compared to any windsor, even the 69-70 351w. There isn't as many performance parts, ie. manifolds, headers to choose from, but there is enough, the last time I had one,'85. Had it in a maverick grabber, used the truck bell housing to fit the bigger flywheel and clutch with a T10 trans had to use the truck starter with the longer shaft.
To get the same kind of power out of a windsor it takes more work. You can build a good running small block but you don't see the clevelands as often, which makes me look a second time.
