Timing a 7.5
As you can see from my user name this truck is driving me nuts. I am repairing this truck as it was severely neglected as much as when replacing spark plugs they were so old they literally were rusted away leaving only thr grounding electrode in the heads.
So off came the heads and a trip to the machine shop now that it is back together I cannot get it to run correctly. It seems to be running on five cylinders rather than eight, I have tried TDC and moving the plug wires forward or back, is the rotation different on the 460? the book shows a counter clockwise rotation of the rotor. In addition there is no timing mark on the harmonic. HELP!!!!!
Right bank > Front to back 1-2-3-4
Left bank(driver's side) Front to back 5-6-7-8
When you look at the dizzy from in front near the rad.
The #1 position on the cap is usually in the 10 o'clock position.
I know when I tried checking my timing, it was really hard to see the timing mark on my harmonic balancer. It's a very faint line cut into the balancer. You could try marking the entire balancer with something and then rubbing it off to leave behind the paint/whatever where the line is
