97 f350 351 wont turn over/or start

Alright so my dad has a 1997 F350 351 crewcab that wont start... after diagnois I was almost positive it was the starter so i replaced it with a rebuilt one
After Replacing the starter It still wouldnt start, still made the same tick noise that it did before
so beliving that the starter was orignally bad but the truck still wont start I replaced the solinoid that is on the passanger side fender

After the replacement of the solinoid It still wont start!!!
Starting to get frusturated and we Have 20 below wind chill in southern wisconsin today so Not the most pleasent thing in the world!!!!
Feel free to shoot out some options!!
thanks

You have one large cable and one small wire that connects on the starter, correct?? The large cable should be live with plenty of voltage at all times. The small wire should only be live with the ignition key in the start position. Trace everything backwards from there.

It may just be dirty battery cable connections or a bad ground connection. A bad cable or a bad battery that seems good.

Have had that happen to me several times and all were fixed by cleaning the ground cables.
(including the side that goes to the block)

Also i have heard that the small wire to the starter can go bad, all you need to do is cut the old one off and crimp on a new one

There's a good chance it's your battery cables. When the plastic that covers them is subject to extreme changes in temperatures, it will crack and dry out like any other plastic. This allows water to seep in and cause corrosion, especially in climates where salt is used on the roads. When the cables get corroded, they can't carry the current they're supposed to and the starter isn't getting enough energy to turn over.

one thing I did not see did you check the battery itself. Most turn on lights or try and jump but if the battery is faulty it my have enough "juice" to run accessories but not spin the motor. Clean all cables and ends have battery charged and try again. -5 degrees in Rockford Il. this AM
