Long Bed off a Custom Cab Question

My dad and I have been doing a 'budget restoration' on a 66 long bed f100 custom cab. Anyways my dad has always wanted a flat bed so he wants to build one and sell the stock bed.

How much are these worth? I am by no means trying to rip people off, I just would like to sell it for a fair price for a buyer and for me to make some money to put towards the truck. On ebay I have seen people selling the fenders, they cut down the inside of the bed, are these worth something or is it better off as a whole entire bed?

I realize this is not a classifieds section, and I am not advertising, I am just asking for input on a price.

Thank you
Garrett

I know if I could find a very straight, rust free long bed, it would be worth $1000 to me. I haven't found one yet. Shipping would be very expensive. Best to find a local buyer.

Garrett, Your's is a question that can have variable answers. I clicked on your profile and see you reside in NV, and that is in the land of solid sheetmetal, so not a lot of local buyers. Take your bed to a rust belt and $1,000.00 may be on target.

I suspect if it is nice and straight $200-500.00 is about what you can get local for it, once you can find a buyer. IMHO

One thing that is a huge factor, It aint what it's worth, it's what someone is willing to pay for it, that determines price.

for a good, straight, rot free and UNCUT bed...locally...2-500 is respectable...if it has original paint and no repairs made to any part...thats a plus.
Uncut...this is referring to a common west coast thing...cutting holes in the flat side of the bed, adding a cheesy fuel door...or 2 for extra non original Ford fuel tanks. IF your bed has these doors...the value drops like a rock..unless one is in search of that version...
Do you have the tailgate ??? whats its shape like ??? I may be interested in that...also...IF by some stroke of luck your bed has inside the bed saddle tanks with necks going out the bedside rounded area...by all means get ahold of me as thats how mine was originally...though not from Ford...but from the shop that added it all 44 years ago...
My Ranger I had a few years ago had the cheesy doors...I met Tom from Flashback out here as he was here for some other stuff and looked at it...the bed was near mint...the bed bolts werent even corroded over...but it had those doors...in the end he passed on it...because of those doors.

All good advice. How about you post some pics- 3 sides, gate up& down, inside overall & corners/wheelwells and you'll get a much better answer.

If it is straight, clean & rust free, I'm still in for $1000

The same 8' Styleside bed was used on 1964/66 F100/250 2WD's and 1966 F100 4WD's.

The bed is the same for either a Standard or Custom Cab. The only difference: Custom Cabs have horizontal bed side mouldings.

The mouldings used in 1964, are 1964 only. 1965/66 is the same.

To clarify what Don said about fuel doors. If the bed has any, they are aftermarket as Ford did not offer an underbed auxillary fuel tank until 1967 (as an option), and then only on the left (drivers) side.

A better question would be: "What does this tailgate actually look like?" Don...you are assuming the tailgate is the original. It may not be.

The tailgate that came with this bed (C4TZ-9940700-A) was OBSOLETED by Ford in September 1966, replaced by the 1967 (1967/72) tailgate (C7TZ-9940700-A) for use as a service part replacement.

The C4TZ tailgate has large block F O R D letters. The letters used on the replacement C7TZ tailgate are smaller, there is a raised ovate scallop line that surrounds them.

All the mounting hardware is the same, only the styling is different.
