my last question

well here goes my last question. what is the best overall gear for a daily driver with a built 306, gt40 heads, b303 cam, 2000 rpm stall, 1406 carb, eddy rpm intake, shorty headers and a C4 tranny? it'll see very little hwy driving mainly around town but maybe a 300 mile trip twice a year.

thanks Lew i had read all the posts here & they were all saying 3.50 or 3.55 but in the back of my mind i remember being told that 3.73 was an all around great gear to run with. it was to to me by some good ole boy back in Ga that raced and drove their hotrods. most of them drove chevys a few fords but they did all agree on the 3.73 gear no matter what tranny you had. i just know the 3.08 that's in there now might not do the trick!

Yeah the 3.73 is a good all around gear , i like the low gears in the 302 , they handle the rpms well as long as you don't do alot of hiway driving....There will be a big difference when you change from the 3.08 . I don't know why ford put that gear in them to begin with ?? ...I had 3.08s in my truck to ....

oh yeah Lew i think that i'm going to try the 4.10 gear i talked to a gear head the other night here & he said that the 3.73s would burn more gas than the 4.10s and spin the rpms up there
