I can't put a finger on when this problem began, but I just noticed it about 3 days ago. I have a 85 Ford F350 6.9L Diesel. Although my drivers side front parking light illuminates, when I move the turn signal stalk to the left, the driver side front left turn signal does not blink; however I can hear the flasher clicking, and the Left rear turn signal blinks. One thing I did notice that is interesting is that the dash light for the turn signal (left) does not come on either. The right side (passenger) turn signals function properly. The only other issue is that sometimes, when I turn on the signal on the right, It will not start blinking unless I jar the steering wheel slightly to the right.
I know this all sounds very strange. Where do I start? What color is the left turn signal wire? Where does it come from?
You have a hot wire from the fuse box that feeds the flasher. A wire comes out of the flasher and then goes to the turnsignal switch. Inside the turnsignal switch is where it gets complicated.
Inside the turnsignal switch, there are two sections, front and rear. The rear is seperate because the turnsignals are mixed with the brake lights(they use the same filament in the bulb).
The front is just a simple single pole double throw section. The dash lights and the front turn lights are tied together. The front turns have their own turn filament, seperate from the front marker filament.
Since your dash light is not working, and you have to bang on the column to get the other front one to work sometimes, I susepect your problem is a loose plug somewhere near the column, or going to the turnsignal switch, or a bad turnsignal switch.
The drivers side front turn is a lightgreen/white wire and the pass side front turn wire is a white/lightblue.
The driver's side rear turn/brake wire is a lightgreen/orange and the pass side rear turn/brake is a orange/lightblue.
