Many folks have been shocked to find the "66-427" markings on the back of a 360 or 390- the rear bulkhead mold got used on some plain-jane engines. Notice there are no plugs where the oil passages would be- probably a plain block with the side-oiler rear bulkhead, or a marine or industrial block that wasn't drilled as a side oiler

The title of this thread is 462. What does a 462, which was only used in 1966/67 Lincoln's have to do with any FE engine?

Am I missing something?

Usually.

A .030 428 block with a 4.25 stroke crank will give you a 462 ci FE
It ain't in the parts books Well, at least not in the Ford ones
But it does exist in the real world
And it's a good thing

Actually, there's a 396 FE from the late 60's- that one ain't in them sacred parts books, either- at least not as an assembly, or listed for a "396", although you could probably find most of the parts there, if you knew what to look for- but might be in the Holman Moody books
Didn't have much in common with the "396" you're thinking of, but it ran reeeel good
