Doors are the same mirror will bolt up, power plug most likely be the same as well. Just have to run wires for the lights and possibly run a hot to ignition for the heated mirrors!
08/09 will fit as well, but cost a couple hundred more (even used), have different plugs and require one bit of rewiring to get the power mirrors moving in the right direction. The only real advantage, other than style, is a bigger convex mirror to watch your blind spot.
I've considered both for upgrade, but haven't been able to justify the expense just yet.
If you buy them used - make sure you have a matched set. There are many variations - heated vs. non heated, turn signal vs blank, power vs manual and the newer of the older style can even be found in double-swing. The double meaning that it can fold either direction - nice if someone clips them pulling in or out of a parking space - but they also tend to command a higher price. It's a matter of how elaborate you can afford them to be - and how much wiring you're willing to do on your own time. The double swing mirrors may have a slightly different finish than the single swing mirrors as well, so you'll want to check that.
If you don't like wiring or don't have someone who can do it for you - there's no reason to pay more for mirros with a bunch of extra stuff on them.
I think they have plug adapter kits available to put the newer mirrors on the older trucks. Check with some of our sponsors here, there has been many here who have done this mod.
I changed from OEM paddle style to Tow Haul type mirrors on my 02 F250. I purchased them from Auto Parts Warehouse.com. They have many styles to chose from and the prices were great with free shipping. I paid $104.00 each for power mirrors, single swing, and small convex mirror under the regular mirror. They bolted in to the existing holes, however the plugs on the new mirrors were round and my plugs were flat, but after 5 minutes I figured out which wires matched to make the mirrors work like OEM. If you look more careful than I did you will see they have mirrors with the proper adapters. The mirrors look and feel like OEMs and dont vibrate any more than OEMs.
I did not know that, thanks for the input. If I'd known they could be found for that cheap (with decent quality) i wouldn't have even bothered 'popping' my glass back in when someone broke it. I was worried about the quality of the aftermarket oem replacements - but you think it's as good as oem? :-)
Are those the heated or non-heated? Going to check them out now, thanks for the lead.
